Our reception team follows the same seven steps for every new patient booking, so you see the right person first time. Here they are, so you know what to expect when you call 01285 821220 or book online.
1. Is it urgent?
If you are in pain, have a broken tooth or a lost crown, call us first thing. Emergency appointments are sit and wait, Monday to Friday: you come in and are seen as soon as a dentist is free.
Call 999 or go to A&E if you have swelling that affects your breathing, swallowing or your eye, bleeding that will not stop, or a facial injury. Out of hours, call NHS 111.
2. What would you like help with?
Use this table to see who usually looks after each treatment. If you are not sure, a new patient examination (£120) is always the right place to start.

3. Are you travelling a long way?
Coming over an hour? Tell us when you book and we will plan one longer first visit, combining your examination, X-rays and first treatment where we can. If your dentist is unwell on the day, we will try to tell you before you set off, or offer another qualified dentist at the same fees; you do not have to go ahead, and any deposit is refunded in full. From London: train to Kemble (about 1 hour 10 minutes), then a 25-minute taxi. Email us any recent X-rays first. Getting here.
4. Treat one problem now, or plan everything?
Tell us whether you want one thing fixed now or a full treatment plan. We can book either. A full plan lets us sequence treatment properly; for example, whiten before any new crowns so they match.
Next: step 5. Why you are joining →
5. Tell us why you are joining, and your preferences
Please tell us, in your own words, why you are joining the practice and what you would like help with. It helps us choose the right clinician, plan your first visit and check for any risks before you arrive. Let us know too if you would like metal-free or BPA-free materials, are nervous, have sensitivities or allergies, or would like to see the same clinician each time. We note it all on your record.
6. Book and confirm as a new patient
- Deposit. We take a deposit of 50% of the fee to secure new patient examinations, holistic consultations, longer appointments and treatment involving laboratory work. Deposits are deducted from the cost of your treatment. Between Christmas and New Year, all appointments are paid in full when you book. These are, in effect, emergency appointments: we keep this time free for patients who need urgent care over the holiday. If you book and do not attend, your payment is not refunded.
- Terms and conditions. When you book, we email you our terms and conditions. Please reply to manager@ceramiccentre.com with your full name and "Yes, I accept the terms and conditions" before your first appointment. We save your reply to your patient record.
- Dental plan members. Tell us you are on a plan when you call or book, so we can make sure you receive your plan benefits.
- Medical history. Complete your forms on our online patient portal before your visit.
- Cancelling. Please give at least two full working days' notice if you need to cancel or move an appointment. Working days are Monday to Friday; weekends and bank holidays do not count. If you need to cancel or change an appointment close to the deadline, you must email reception@miserdendentalpractice.co.uk for your notice to be valid; a phone, text or WhatsApp message is not enough. If you give less than two full working days' notice or do not attend, your deposit is lost. See our terms.
- Directions. Sat nav postcode GL6 7JA, with free parking outside.
7. After your treatment
- We book your next examination and hygiene visit before you leave.
- Please have a check-up with one of our dentists at least once a year. If more than two years pass without a visit to a dentist or hygienist here, your next examination is charged as a new patient examination (£120) instead of a check-up (£55). Hygiene visits count, so they keep your place.
- After implants, crowns, veneers, dentures or orthodontics we book a review, so we can check your bite and how things are settling.
- Implant patients see our hygienists every 3 months and have bite checks with Dr George Lazaridis in the first year; if an implant fails in the first year, we replace it free of charge (the laboratory fee for the new tooth is charged), as long as these visits have been kept. A dentist reviews your implant once a year after that.
- If we refer you to a specialist, for example for complex root canal treatment, you are welcome to come back to us for the laboratory stage, such as your new crown.
