We place dental implants in the Cotswolds, at our practice near Stroud, Cirencester and Cheltenham. A dental implant is a small post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. It supports a crown, a bridge or a denture, and is often the longest-lasting way to replace missing teeth.
Dentists across the UK refer implant, All-on-4 and complex cases to us.
Every tooth matters
Losing a single tooth affects more than the gap. When a tooth is removed and not replaced, the teeth around it are at higher risk of long-term problems:
- Neighbouring teeth drift and tilt into the space, opening gaps where food gets trapped and gum disease and decay are more likely.
- The opposite tooth can over-erupt, growing down (or up) into the gap because it has nothing to bite against.
- Your bite changes, which can put extra load on the remaining teeth and the jaw joint, and lead to wear or cracks.
- The jawbone shrinks where the root used to be, which can make replacing the tooth later more complex and change the support of the lip and cheek.
This is why we always try to save a tooth first, and if one has to come out, we talk you through the options for replacing it, such as an implant, a bridge or a denture, before the extraction, so the space is planned for rather than left to change.
What dental implants can replace
- A single tooth. One implant and a ceramic crown, from £3,300 including the crown.
- Several teeth. Individual implants or an implant-supported bridge.
- A full arch. All-on-4 or All-on-6 fixed teeth, from £15,000 per arch. For the most natural look, the gum-coloured part can be made in hand-layered gum porcelain (Artist line), shaded to blend with your own gum line. Artist line is available only for patients treated at our practice and is quoted individually before it is ordered.
- Loose dentures. Implant-retained dentures that click securely into place, from £6,900.
Titanium or ceramic?
- Titanium implants have decades of research behind them and suit most patients.
- Ceramic (zirconia) implants are a metal-free option, for suitable cases, for patients who prefer no metal, have metal sensitivities or want a tooth-coloured root near the gum line. We place NobelPearl ceramic implants for suitable patients.
We will explain which is right for your bone, bite and health.
Your implant journey
- Implant consultation (£260). Examination and a written plan. The consultation does not include a CBCT scan: if your dentist decides a 3D scan is needed, it is taken on our own Planmeca scanner and charged separately (£185). Once you go ahead with implant treatment, all CBCT scans taken during your treatment are included in the treatment fee. Seeing the bone in 3D lets us check its height, width and density and the position of nerves and sinuses before treatment.
- Planning. Digital scans with our DEXIS IS 3800W intraoral scanner, and photographs; your new tooth is designed with our lab.
- Placement. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic.
- Healing. Usually a few months while the implant bonds with the bone.
- Your new tooth. A crown handmade and shade-matched in our on-site lab, then fitted and checked.
- Maintenance. Regular hygiene visits to keep the implant and gums healthy.
Who is suitable?
Most adults with missing teeth, healthy gums and enough bone. If bone is thin, a bone graft (£380 to £450) can rebuild it. You can choose synthetic EthOss (animal-free, used by Dr Zac Cox) or bovine bone mineral. In the upper back jaw, where the sinus sits close above the bone, Dr George Lazaridis can carry out a sinus lift (from £990 per side) to make room for the implant; your CBCT scan shows whether you need one. We consider your oral health, medical history, smoking and goals.
Looking after your implants
Implants do not decay, but the gum and bone around them can become inflamed and shrink, often without pain. Bone loss around an implant cannot be seen in the mirror, so regular professional checks are recognised as good practice:
- Hygiene with our hygienists every 3 months. Kerry Braithwaite or Katherine Griffiths cleans around your implant with instruments that are safe for implant surfaces.
- Bite check with Dr George Lazaridis. During the first year after your implant is placed, Dr George Lazaridis checks your bite so the implant is not overloaded.
- If an implant fails in the first year. We replace the implant free of charge; the laboratory fee for the new crown or tooth is charged. This depends on you attending a hygiene visit every 3 months and your bite checks with Dr Lazaridis. No implant can be guaranteed to last, because healing depends on your body, your health and how you look after it. We book these with you before you leave. See our terms.
- Loose implant crown? Dr Alexander Doan-Gill offers an implant check-up and screw tightening, without a new screw, for £300. If a new screw or other part is needed, he will explain the cost first.
- Implant review: regular examinations, as recommended by your dentist. A full check of the implant, gums and bite, with X-rays when clinically justified to monitor the bone level around the implant.
- At home: clean around the implant twice a day, using interdental brushes or a water flosser as shown by your hygienist. If you grind your teeth, we may recommend a night guard to protect the implant.
Keeping to this routine helps your implant last and lets us spot any change early, when it is easiest to treat.

Frequently asked questions
Do you offer metal-free implants? Yes. Dr George Lazaridis places NobelPearl ceramic (zirconia) implants as well as titanium implants. We will tell you honestly which suits your case.
How much does a dental implant cost? A single implant including the crown costs from £3,300. Bone grafting, if needed, costs £380 to £450, and a sinus lift, if needed, from £990 per side. You receive a written plan before treatment.
Do I need a CBCT scan? Usually, yes. Our Planmeca 3D CBCT scanner is on site, so implants are planned precisely without a trip to another clinic.
How do I look after my implants? See the hygienist every 3 months for cleaning and a bite check, and a dentist once a year for a review, with X-rays when clinically justified.
Concerned about dental materials? We encourage you to have any allergy tests done before treatment starts: get your treatment plan from your dentist, then see your dermatologist first, who will say which materials to test. See allergy testing before treatment for the materials to ask about and where to get tested. A sample pack of our materials for your tester is £95 (plus £5.50 postage).
