Dermal Fillers

Injectable filler (injectable cosmetic filler, injectable facial filler) is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin to help fill in facial wrinkles, restoring a smoother appearance. Most of these wrinkle fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body. Some people may need more than one injection to achieve the wrinkle-smoothing effect. The effect lasts for about six months or longer. Successful results depend on health of the skin, skill of the health care provider, and type of filler used

You can have these fillers in different parts of your face

  • around the eyes
  • cheeks
  • mouth and jawline
  • lip fillers
  • deep lines
  • replaces volume generally in localised areas

After an initial consultation

Dermal fillers are small injections, typically made up of hyaluronic acid and can reduce wrinkles and add volume which we lose as we get older.

Dermal fillers may be used in different areas of the face, around the eyes, cheeks, jawline as well as lips. This can highlight and accentuate the whole face to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Why to consider dermal fillers?  As we get older our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin, both of which contribute to the ‘youthful look’. Experts argue when we start losing collagen; but the general agreed age is 25. Which is pretty young!

Your collagen and elastin levels decline at a rate of 2% per annum and your body will have stopped producing it all together by your late 20s. Fillers have been used for decades to restore lost volume and add lift, it does this by imbibing moisture from your body into localised areas where the filler material is carefully placed.

Dermal fillers can be expected to last from 6-18 months.
